Website – API Monitors (POST/PUT/DELETE)

Similar to our HTTP Page Monitors, which use HTTP GET, the API Monitor checks for the uptime of an endpoint using HTTP POST, PUT or DELETE. 

Here’s everything you can do on this page!

1) Add an API monitor 

Just like our HTTP page monitoring, setting up an API monitor couldn’t be easier. Simply hit “[+] ADD MONITOR” in the top right corner or “[+] ADD AN API MONITOR” located in the centre of the screen. From there follow the on screen prompts to get set up.

The options open to an API monitor range from’ request method (POST, PUT, DELETE), request body and value through to the more advance Basic Authentication and response timeouts.

2) View, edit and pause all monitors

Hitting the “All Monitors” tab will give you a list of all passing, failing and paused API monitors. This list can be sorted by creation date, label, response and status. Each monitor will have its own settings cog which, when expanded, gives the option to either pause, edit or delete a specific HTTP monitor.

3) View aggregate stats

RapidSpikes smart aggregation pulls data from all existing API monitors and gives a range of data. The data on this page covers response times, status changes and uptime %’s.

4) Change general availability settings

Reached from the settings cog in the top right hand corner. General availability settings allow you to tweak the test regions used, the test frequency as well as giving you the option to pause/resume all current monitors.

5) Change the data history displayed

Whether you want to see data for the last week or the last year – Simply hit the Clock button in the top right and use the drop down to select your preferred data history. This button will display the current data period so you know what its set to currently!

6) View and create Alerts

Alerts are the core of the RapidSpike system, finding out what your issues are as soon as they happen is crucial so we’ve made it easier than ever to create, view and edit alerts. To view these your existing alerts or to add new ones simply hit the “ALERTS” tab at the top of the page. From this page you’ll be add new Alert Rules by hitting “ALERT SETTINGS>” as well as view the existing rules associated to this monitor below.
